HI, I AM Lauren (she/her)

ART THERAPY PRACTICUM STUDENT

I bring my unique perspective to therapy, taking a person-centered and collaborative approach. My goal is to walk beside you as you recollect and reshape the story of your life and move into the future. I am deeply invested in seeing the beauty of life and feel artmaking has a unique capacity for exposing that beauty. An added bonus to working with me is my service dog, Jerry, a big golden retriever!

More About Me

Background

I am currently studying at the Adler Graduate School in Minnetonka, MN, pursuing a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In my work with clients, I recognize that the world is all too often set up to rob us of the beauty that we hold within us, especially those of us living at the intersections of multiple oppressions. As someone who experiences the world as a Black, queer, neurodivergent, and disabled woman, I seek beauty through artmaking and nature. I have a special interest in grief and loss and believe the best way to process grief and loss is to move through, not past, or around it.

I offer in-person sessions at the St. Paul office on Mondays and Thursdays with Jerry.

Jerry is Lauren’s service dog and therapy dog in practice. To learn more about what an art therapy appointment might be like click here.
