HI, I AM ABBY

MFT Practicum Intern

I believe healing is a creative, collaborative process. I’m passionate about holding space for people to feel seen, to slow down, and to reconnect with what matters most to them. In therapy, I will bring curiosity, care, and a deep respect for your story. My approach is rooted in systems thinking, shaped by years of experience in community work, and grounded in a belief that meaningful change—like good therapy—is built in relationship.

Abby Ross

I believe healing is a creative, collaborative process. I’m passionate about holding space for people to feel seen, to slow down, and to reconnect with what matters most to them. In therapy, I will bring curiosity, care, and a deep respect for your story. My approach is rooted in systems thinking, shaped by years of experience in community work, and grounded in a belief that meaningful change—like good therapy—is built in relationship.

More About Me

Background

Prior to entering the field of therapy, I spent a number of years in the nonprofit sector, particularly with climate justice organizations. Most recently I spent several years as a Social Prescribing Link Worker with the National Health Service (NHS) in England, where I was part of a model of care that recognized wellbeing as deeply relational and rooted in social context.

Social Prescribing is a systems-oriented approach that acknowledges the complexity of people’s lives and the power of connection, agency, and place in supporting meaningful, sustainable change.

That framework continues to guide how I approach therapy: collaborative, rooted in relationships, and always shaped by the bigger systems we move through.  That enables me to see clients through a strengths-based lens which acknowledges the resiliency of being human in this world.

Specialties

My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I’m especially drawn to the ‘art’ of therapy—using deep listening, presence, and creativity to support people through change. I practice culturally responsive, trauma-informed care, and have a special interest in:

  • Anger
  • Artists
  • Climate anxiety
  • Couples Counseling
  • Depression
  • Discernment
  • Grief and loss
  • Identity issues
  • Intimacy
  • Life changes and transitions
  • Men’s mental health issues
  • Self-Esteem
  • Sex and/or Intimacy Issues
  • Social justice
  • Women’s mental health issues

My work is guided by the idea that healing is not just personal, but relational, ecological, and often nonlinear.

Personal Interests

When I’m not at Invigorate, nature, music, movement, and making things are all central to how I connect with the world.  I’ve been an artist and musician my whole life, therefore creativity significantly shapes how I show up in the world.  Additionally, I am also drawn to travel adventures, cool climates, wool fibers, and always – dark chocolate.
