BODY IMAGE

Body Image

What is Body Image?

Ultimately, body image is just us noticing our bodies. From there, we tend to assign judgments or recall messaging we’ve been told or have internalized about our bodies. For some, the judgments/messaging can be neutral or positive and maybe on a harder day, negative. For others, noticing the body can be really distressing and cause disruptions throughout the day. Intense body image distress can take away from being present and living life fully.

At Invigorate Life Counseling, we offer body image groups, courses, and workshops to help you have a better understanding of your body image and ways to build skills and/or change the narrative you have with your body.

Who are Invigorate Life Counseling’s body image experts?

Hi, I’m Abby (she/her/they/them)! I have a corgi named Peaches and I am super passionate about talking about body image and challenging the systems that try to destabilize our self image. Body image messaging is all around us and it’s important to increase our literacy/boundaries around what messages we let in. I hold the belief of body sovereignty and am not here to tell you what to do or not do with your body. That being said, if you’re looking to change the narrative you have with your body or gather more facts on how the systems around you may have influenced your body decisions, joining our body image group or body image course or attending a workshop might be helpful. Hi there, I’m Kristin (she/her).  I am a licensed therapist who has been working with clients with body image distress for more than 5 years. I am passionate about helping people gain tools to combat diet culture and feel better in their here-and-now bodies. My hope is that I can help you on your specific journey to body acceptance, appreciation, or positivity. When I’m not in the office, I am probably out walking my dog (a dachshund named Rhubarb), gardening, bike riding, or spending time with friends.
